On February 9, 2023, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced that the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE) will end on May 11, 2023. During the PHE, CMS released flexibilities that allowed easier access to care for healthcare workers and their patients. Some of the flexibilities, such as telehealth waivers, were recently expanded in the Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA) for Fiscal Year 2023. Other flexibilities that are no longer needed once the PHE ends will be retired.
Now is the time to research which policies are changing for your practice. Use the resource links below to see which waivers and flexibilities will be changing once the PHE ends for guidance on transitioning to the updated policies.
